This is the spot to eat in Custer! Friendly owners, fast service, good prices and the food is absolutely delicious! BBQ pork had just enough smoke flavor, their sauces are home made I tried both sweet and hot. Hot could have just a little more kick, but I like super spicy, and the sweet was amazing as well. Definitely will be back for more! Get there early if you can as they cook all their meats fresh and when it's gone it's gone for the day!
Sampled the brisket (I lived it Texas so I've had a lot of brisket) and it is a winner too. A wonderful ratio of fat to meat. Super moist.
(For the meat smokers out there who are curious about wood used, these guys use oak.)

Planned on going to a burger place and they ended up being closed. Best thing to ever happen! Dakota BBQ is delicious! Friendly people and great food. A must stop in Custer South Dakota!
My favorite food of all time is pulled pork BBQ and this place has the best pork BBQ sandwiches I've ever tasted... And I've had A LOT of sandwiches in many states across the country. Amazing food and wonderful customer service from two very down to earth and friendly people. You can tell they really care about the quality of the service and food they provide. They are open until they sell out every day to ensure fresh food every day that is never reheated. I highly recommend!!!!
Had the pulled pork sandwiches and it was fantastic. Delicious, falling-apart, natural pork flavor. They have house made sauces to top it if you choose. The buns were good quality. Turns out they come from a local bakery.
The pulled pork was good; the brisket was amazing. Both were incredibly tender. The guy who took our order was friendly, and service was fast enough. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. A lunch for a family of 4 (kids 6 and 10) was $37, in part because the prices are for a sandwich only, no sides. My local smokehouse offers a LOT more food for the money, with the same high quality.
When I come back to this town I will make a it a point to eat here again. Thanks!
