This monument is incredible, the visitors center is beautiful. Even though I know that Crazy Horse will never be finished in my life time, I can't wait to come back to see the progress that is made each year. Incredible dedication!
We loved our visit & enjoyed eating at their restaurant. They are awesome! They have a great idea going & I can't wait to see it finished! I love to see the story of the Indians kept alive as it's part of our history & we get to keep their lifestyle alive! I only wish America had been more kind to them when We came & took over their land instead of learning to thrive together. I have Indian in my blood line so to see a family keeping the memory of Crazy horse alive is awesome to me! I am sad though to know he died on my birthday
It is worth the trip the beautiful gorgeous artwork from the Native American people is really something to see. They also have a theater to give you more information so you can understand how long it takes to make these gorgeous statues and artwork. Crazy Horse is funded purely by people who come and visit and purchase things from the gift shop there is no federal or government money involved so it's up to us to keep it going.
Crazy Horse, once it's finished (and it could take several more decades), will be stunning and give Mount Rushmore a run for its money but they have to finish it first!
Crazy Horse is a work in progress, but this place is more of an Indian museum and culture center than anything else. It is big and it has a lot of local Indian culture and displays, including an excellent timeline and an excellent Bison exhibit. Lots of Indian crafts to browse and buy. The film was pretty good, but the day we where there, they had problem with the projector and the light was very dim, hard to see.
The nice guy at the ticket booth made me feel very welcome! After parking I wasn’t greeted at the door, like the others, I noticed. I see more progress has been done to the visitors building over the years, than to the actual statue of Crazy Horse. I did appreciate the various displays and historic items they have in their collection. Better than Rushmore!
