So much better than trail riding! Kristin and Lynn were highly recommended and they did not disappoint. We will definitely be returning on our next visit to the Black Hills.
Great place with well kept horses and beautiful property close to Custer, but it is Kristin's energy and dedication that makes this place exceptional. Will definitely return and try not to lose my phone again!!
Wow! I've never had a trail ride as good as this one (and I've been on many). My friends and I (two of us experienced riders, two beginners) were stunned at the beautiful land we were able to ride on but even more so about how relaxed everything was. No nose-to-tail in a straight line, and the owner even let us spend the second hour exploring the forest on our own once we passed his test halfway through. The horses were solid and trustworthy though they still retained their personalities (no "dead" trail horses here). My only regret is that this beautiful place is so far from home, but if I'm ever in the area again you BET I'll be back! Worth every penny.
However, I was my stupid self trying to document the entire experience and lost my phone! We spent the rest of the ride looking for it, but had no luck. She even offered us her ATVs to search for the phone, which we tried and still could not find it. I had accepted that it was gone forever, but received a call an hour later that Kristen had found the phone after making it her mission on the next tour!
Went for a ride with a group of three last week. We were all relatively inexperienced, but Kristin made us feel at ease with the horses we were paired with. She was extremely patient and thorough with adjusting the saddles and making sure we knew the basics before going on the ride. The scenery is absolutely picturesque and Kristen is super friendly and exudes passion for her horses, which are well taken care of.
My husband and I came out to the black hills and wanted to try some horseback riding. Neither one of us has much experience and we had an absolutely amazing time with the horses and working with Kristen. The horses were free to go where they pleased instead of following in a straight trail line. I really appreciated the freeness of the experience and also the knowledge Kristen had in helping us become comfortable with the horses. She was very kind and even offered to take pictures for us. I would definitely recommend going here!!!
I spent four days in the Black Hills alone on a spiritual healing journey due to being an ovarian cancer patient. One of the things I wanted to do was ride horse again. I found Hollingsworth Horses by googling and was impressed by the reviews. My entire experience was top notch from the initial phone contact through the ride. Lynn, the owner, took me around his 120 acre property and pointed out interesting rock formations and gave me some history of the land. After just over an hour he let me go off on my own after deeming that I was an experienced enough rider. I rode through national forest land on a wonderful horse named Bill for a couple of hours. It was just what I needed. The only bad part of the experience was my dismount at the end of the ride. My legs were so sore after hiking Black Elk Trail the day before, and after a three hour ride I could barely lift my right leg to get out of the saddle. It was more of a rolling dismount but that was my fault!!! I highly recommend Hollingsworth Horses. I will be back God willing.
