The location of their campground was excellent. The showers were great. We were very pleased with our experience.
We were booked into another campground with a reservation made far in advance in order to meet our particular requirements. When we showed up the allocated site was utterly inadequate. We elected to cancel our reservation, and ended up as a walk-in at Custer Crazy Horse, where we couldn't have been made to feel more welcome. They worked with us to find the ideal site, and we ended up staying for over two weeks as we hiked and fly fished the Black Hills
We stayed here for two weeks out of our three month trip around the U.S, and this was our favorite spot! It was super close to town, which made it easy to grab supplies or go have dinner, but it was just far enough way to still feel like camping. There is a family of deer that would walk the park every afternoon and feed on the grass.
In 30+ years of camping this is the best campground we have ever stayed in.
Please do not read reviews before May 2017, new owners were so great and the campsite itself was super clean. My family of 5 just spent 2 nights here in one of the cabins and plan to go back and stay here again next summer. Our campsite and their store had everything we needed. Cabin was adorable, bathrooms were clean, and showers were hot. My only minor complaint was that the beds were super hard, luckily we had camping pads and thick sleeping bags to put on top of the mattresses. Location is super close to Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, and Custer State Park.
The owners couldn't have been more helpful!!! Their season was ending and weather was quite cool. They provided us with heaters for our tents, which saved our lives. They gave us ice cream bars, coffee, information.
Ignore the reviews prior to the summer of 2017. This campground is under new ownership, and they really understand customer service and bend over backwards to meet campers' needs.
We stayed 2 nights in a camper cabin and it was just perfect. The whole site was very tidy, the bathrooms were exceptionally clean, and the staff was incredibly kind and accommodating. The cabin was just what we needed and very clean -- it was swept out, widows open, and all fresh for us on arrival. The site itself had a beautiful view and some gentle wildlife roaming about in the evening. We would highly recommend this campground (and the camper cabins!). Thank you for such an enjoyable stay!
Bathrooms, laundry and other facilities are spotless. The location is perfect as base camp for access to Custer State Park as well as the southern half of the Black Hills. Minutes from Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore. Easy reach to Wind Cave and Jewel Cave.
The owners were super nice and the campground itself was very well maintained. Can't wait to go back!
