Beautiful lake and trail. Beach seemed nice, but we didn't swim. Everyone renting canoes, kayaks and paddle boards seemed to be enjoying. Lunch was very tasty and had beautiful view. Could easily see spending a few hours with hiking and dining.
Very pretty but overpriced. Everyone inside was very professional and they had a neat gift shop but the lake was much more fun. Beautiful/easy hike around it with fishing access. If youre in the area, definitely worth a visit!
Grabbed lunch here while driving through Custer state park. Decent fast food... Similar to what you'd get at the lunch counter at a ski resort, zoo, or other near-captive-audience type of place. The lodge is near a lake with a small hiking loop, a nice playground, and a swimming area. They also rent out canoes, kayaks, and stand up paddleboards.
It was a place to sleep only. When I made the reservation, I was told there was a mini kitchen in the unit. Well, what we found was a super tiny refrigerator sitting on the floor with a microwave sitting on top. There wasn't a table in the unit at all...not even a coffee table or tv tray so we could have a snack or morning coffee. There was no counter space in the bathroom at all. Very hard to get ready! The closet was only the top half...the bottom half was boxed off by something. Luckily we only had to stay one night and moved on to much better accommodations. I wish business would show the real thing on their website instead of touched up units that are nothing like the real thing! There really was nothing on the website that looked like the unit we had.
Tensions were HIGH. I'm not sure if it was just the end to an overwhelming tourist season, but each time my partner and I left our cabin to visit lodge we witnessed a confrontation. I would estimate that we encountered 6 verbal disagreements between staff and guests in 2 days. The tension and negative energy made us extremely uncomfortable. We also felt that it was overpriced based on the size of our cabin and amenities. I'm giving 2 stars bc this is located in a beautiful area, otherwise I would go zero. I'm not exaggerating when I say we were truly afraid while staying at Legion Lake.
