What a great place, picnic/day camp areas close by, hiking, water activities, wildlife it was all wonderful!
Really nice metal picnic bench tables at each side and nice fire pits with grates to cook over fire.
Beautiful little spot - tough to find level space for tents, though.
The campground, bathrooms, and showers are usually clean. The location is convenient to travel to many of the main attractions in the Black Hills.
Overall very nice campground...secluded and quiet, but close enough to Custer to run into town for ice. It has nice shade and the amenities one would expect from a state park campground. We rented a tent site with a group (four sites in a row). Most of the group had campers, which is good since there is very little level ground to pitch a tent. The loop roads are supposed to be one way, but because of the angles of the back-in sites, you can't always obey the rules. The sites are laid out a little awkward also, with picnic tables and fire pits in strange configurations, but this can't really be helped due to terrain. Bathrooms were pretty clean and everything seemed to work. There is only one, however, so be aware of cleaning time when they are closed!
It's spacious for camping/rv and the bathrooms/showers are nice and clean!!!
